Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia

Mr. Plenković is Croatian politician, diplomat, and lawyer. He was born in Zagreb in 1970. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law and Master of International Law degree from the University of Zagreb. He joined Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. He served there in various positions including as the Head of the Department for European Integration between 1997-2001, as a Member of the Negotiating Team on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement 2001-2002 and the Deputy Head of Croatia’s Mission to the EU. Between 2005-2010 he served as the Deputy Ambassador to France. In 2011 he joined the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ – Hrvatska demokratska zajednica) and was elected as the MP to the Croatian Parliament. In 2013, he was elected to the European Parliament. In 2016, he was elected President of HDZ and subsequently as the Prime Minister of Croatia. He speaks English, French, Italian, and German. He is married and has three children.
