Ľubica Karvašová is Diplomatic Advisor of Prime Minister on EU Affairs (Sherpa) and Director of EU Affairs Department at the Government Office of the Slovak Republic since May 2021. Previously she served as Deputy Head of Cabinet at the Office of State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (10/2020 – 5/2021; 5/2015 – 8/2015), Antici & Head of Office at the Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU in Brussels (9/2015 – 1/2020), EU policy Coordinator at the EU policy Coordinator Office of State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (8/2013 – 5/2015) and EU Desk Officer at the Department for General Affairs and Relations with EU Institutions (5/2011 – 8/2013).
Before joining the Slovak foreign service she worked as Specialist – ECB Coordinator at the Office of the Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia (3/2011 – 5/2011). She graduated from the University of Economics in Bratislava (Bc. in International Relations in 2008; Master in International Relations/ Economic Diplomacy in 2010) and from Université Paris-Sorbonne (Master in European Affairs, 2009 – 2010).
She is a Recipient of the Aspen Central Europe Leadership Award 2021, participant of the German Marshall Fund of the United States´ Marshall Memorial Fellowship (2018), Young European Leaders program of the Aspen Initiative for Europe (2017) and the European Diplomatic Programme (2013)
She is fluent in English and French.
