Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic

H.E Rastislav Káčer began his career in 1992 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic with following 16 years of experience on decision-making levels. Between 1992 – 2001, Mr. Káčer hold the positions as Head of the Analytical Unit; First Secretary at the Permanent Representation to NATO; Head of Policy Planning Staff and later Director General for Security Policy and Multilateral Affairs. In 2001, he  became Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence responsible for the  negotiations and accession process of Slovakia to NATO. He is widely recognized as an expert on U.S. domestic and foreign policy, transatlantic relations, defence and security issues. Consequently, Mr. Káčer has been appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States between 2003 – 2008. In 2013, Mr. Káčer was appointed to represent the Slovak Republic in Hungary as Ambassador. In 2018, Rastislav Káčer became the Chairman, mostly due to his continuous leadership and development of GLOBSEC (formerly Slovak Atlantic Commission, SAC) since 2008. Year 2020 marked termination of his Chairmanship position, as in Octobe Mr Káčer has been appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic.
