Former Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic

Jaroslav Naď served as the Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic from March 2020 to May 2023. Prior to joining the anti-corruption political party OLANO and thus entering politics in 2018, Naď acquired ample experience in the area of security and defence in both civil service and the non-profit sector. He is former deputy director at Globsec and former director and founder at Slovak Security Policy Institute. From 2004 to 2013 Naď served in the Slovak civil service and diplomacy rising to the Head of Defence Section at the Permanent Representation of Slovak Republic to NATO and EU in Brussels. He is a graduate of Matej Bel University (Mgr., PhDr.) and Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik (Phd.). He also underwent training and courses at the U.S. State Department, European Security and Defence College in Brussels, NATO School in Oberammergau and George C. Marshall Center in Garmisch.
